How Your Mind Affects Your Sleep

Stress and anxiety can easily get in the way of a good night’s sleep. Stress is any change you must adapt to.  Most of the time we think that only negative changes produce stress, however, even positive changes, like going on vacation, having visitors, can produce stress.  We can’t avoid stress, but we can have control over how we react to stress.

Stress is an every day fact of life – you can’t avoid it, but there are things you can do to reduce its impact. Types of stressors include: —

  • Environment (weather, noise, traffic) —
  • Social stressors (financial problems, disagreements, loss of loved ones) —
  • Physiological stressors (illness, pain, fatigue) —
  • Thoughts (how your brain interprets stressors)
