Cumulative Effects of a Poor Sleep Environment

Some of the sleep environment factors that we talked about in this module can have cumulative effect.  While each factor alone may not disturb your sleep, in combination, they could be having an impact on your sleep quality.  For instance, if you have a bad mattress, then you add on a hot room, you drank too much liquid before bedtime, and you hear the neighbor’s dog starts barking because you are sleeping with the window open.  Next thing you know, you are awake.

You have some control over these factors, and little changes might have an impact on your ability to stay asleep.
